What started as a hobby for a few, blossomed into a garden of hope for many.

Alaya Healing Garden is the small plot of land at the back and the walls surrounding the Alaya Women’s Center’s office.

Cultivating the barren soil seemed like an insurmountable task. The dry and humid climate in Angeles City made seed germination almost impossible.

With sheer determination, a lot of hard work, our vegetables are now growing. In fact, we have already harvested camote tops, pechay and lettuce.

The first harvest was not a lot, but the friends we gained, lessons learned and stories shared were plentiful.

Healing gardens are often found in hospitals and other health care facilities to aid patients in their recovery. Alaya’s Healing Garden aims to provide refuge for women by bringing the power of nature to help them deal with stress and trauma.
